Answering Your Questions About Maximum Football’s Dynasty Mode

Last week, we gave you the first look at Maximum Football’s College Dynasty Mode which allows you to serve as your program’s coach and athletic director in a customizable football universe. If you missed the deep dive blog, you can read it here.

Even in such a long blog, it was impossible to get to EVERY detail! So, we asked you, our community, to submit questions to our Dynasty Mailbag. Here are some answers to your questions.

Can we make a custom coach?

At Early Access launch, you will not be able to edit your coach. There are dozens of coaches in the initial hiring pool to choose from. Adding a create-a-coach feature is a part of our plan for future updates to the mode.

Is there a way to set rules for conference realignment?

At launch, you will only be able to set how often conference realignment occurs. Any year with conference realignment will see the bottom two teams in each conference move down a league and the top two move up. In the future, we want to add the ability to add more teams to a conference or take teams away.

Can you change the number of conferences?

Currently, the number of conferences in Dynasty is fixed. However, we are looking to add the ability to add and remove conferences in the future.

Do CPU controlled teams spend their XP and budget upgrading coaches and facilities?

Yes. CPU teams spend their XP and budget. The upgrades they choose are dictated by the types of players they scout and recruit, which is based on their playbook. For example, a pass heavy team will upgrade facilities for passing, catching, and offensive line.

Some coaches spend almost all of their budget yearly while others will save theirs up for a couple years and spend it.

They also dedicate a portion of their budget to stadium upgrades.

Is it possible for high-potential players on low-performing teams to meet their potential? Is there variance on how much a player’s potential is met?

Different coaches/schools have different approaches to spending their XP on player development. This is dictated by the “pro development” rank that can be found when scouting player interests. The higher the “pro development” rank is, the more coaches focus on spending XP on just their top players, rather than spread evenly throughout the team.

If a high potential player goes to a school that isn’t as successful but focuses on pro development, there is still a good chance they will meet their potential for a couple reasons. One, the XP cost of upgrading attributes is lower due to their higher potential. Two, the school wants to focus on developing their highest potential players as quickly as possible.

Will there be a setting for automatic recruiting and AD objectives?

Yes! When you advance your week, you are able to select options for automated recruiting and automated XP spending. In your coaching menu, you can set your recruiting priorities as well.

Do recruiting classes scale depending on the number of teams in a Dynasty?

No. Every prospect class will have roughly 1300 players made available.

Will upgrades to your stadium take time to implement or will they take effect immediately?

Upgrades to your stadium play a bigger role in Dynasty Mode than simply updating the aesthetic of where you play. Upgrades allow for more fan engagement, more sales, and higher attendance, leading to more generated revenue for other upgrades. Because of this, your upgrades will take place immediately upon purchase.

You can always set house rules for yourself to match the realism you’d like: only change your stadium in pre-season, wait for specific weeks to add upgrades, etc.

Will you be able to edit players in Dynasty Mode?

YES! Every player in Dynasty Mode is fully editable. Name, number, appearance, and ratings can all be altered.

Will there be a transfer portal?

We know that the transfer portal is a big part of modern college football. To start, we wanted to focus on the high school recruiting process and get that down. We hope to add the transfer portal some time in the future.

Will there be a ticker when playing games?

While there is not a ticker during the games, there is a ticker that runs at the bottom of the menus in dynasty. The ticker shows the match-up and each team’s rank, as well as the score.

Are we going to see repeated player faces when recruiting?

The recruits will pull from the available faces in the game, which means that yes there will be repeats. However, on field you will be able to customize their equipment and accessories.

How do upkeep costs work when upgrading your school and facilities?

The more you level up your stadium and facilities, the more your upkeep costs will increase. In your expense page, “college upkeep” is the cost of maintaining your facilities and “stadium upkeep” is the cost of maintaining your stadium. You will also incur more costs every time you add more food carts to your stadium (“food cart upkeep”), and selling more merchandise means spending more on inventory (“merch upkeep”).

How are the jerseys in the merchandise shop selected?

The three jerseys on sale in your team’s shop are the three highest rated players on your team. These change dynamically. If a new player enters the top three, their jersey will be available. Sales dynamically change based off of the player’s rating relative to the rest of the league. If you have the highest rated halfback in the league, you will sell more jerseys (dependent as well on the attendance).

If you have the best player in the league, you can basically charge whatever you want for his jersey and fans will still buy it!

Does the game have a trophy case?

Yes! You will be able to track all of your prestigious awards in Dynasty. You can even customize the names of the awards.
